Zorro the fashion Horse Junkie

The New and very experimental trend for SS10 is the new Horse riding influence. With Silk Jodhpurs from D&G and Check Plaid shirts of Ralph Lauren, it’s defiantly all change for the next season. Hermes have always traditionally used it’s heritage as it’s fashion fore front but now other designers are clocking on and changing this fashionable sports look.

D&G have taken the traditional look and mixed it with movie inspiration, Zorro and the look of a Spanish western. High-necked blouses and layered lace netting creates the more feminine lines and the horse rider shapes such as cropped blazers and Jodhpurs have been adapted for a more masculine look and feel.

Tommy Hilfiger has also created his SS10 collection using the Jodhpurs shape and has soften the shape with crisp summer colours that gives the famous shape some lift and depth.

For a shape that was purely there as a uniform for all riders, it has defiantly taken a new shape of its own. Let’s just hope that women of all sizes can enjoy this look and not been too hipped out.

Wearing this style for SS10 can be difficult, but can be achievable. For the Fashion trend setter wearing the style with high-necked collar blouse and cropped jacket will look very smart and chic.
For the New-be, a simple silk over sized top or long patterned cotton t-shirt will take the edge off of the dramatic shape and still make it look edgy.
For those unsure of this style, the Harlem trousers are a similar shape but not as ‘hip’ orientated. This can easily been worn with a simple vest top and sequin waistcoat or with a cropped top over the vest to show a layered affect which looks effective and UN-dated.
