So what can possibly make you happy at this time of year? The fact that your just weeks away from winter time, waking up to dark mornings, and feeling the old Seasonal Affective Disorder kicking in doesn’t sound like much fun.
But this particular October morning rocks up at 10 degrees Celsius outside, pretty damn good for this time of year. The pavements are lined with golden leaves, the kettles boiling and I’ve just watched a series of ridiculously early Christmas adverts on the TV, so I’m feeling quite content about this time of year. And, call me pathetic, the most exciting thing is seeing my favourite stores go into transformation mode. Rails of little tee’s, cute cotton dresses and rows of sandals are booted out in exchange for chunky knits, revamped denim and fur lined coats. Kind of exciting, yeah?
This October, I am genuinely looking forward to doing a bit of switching. I’ll be swapping tee’s for tea’s (no longer do I need to arrange stressful holiday shops with friends, Starbucks meetings are my new Autumn catch ups), department stores for market stalls (out with shopping under one roof, and in with trailing independent stalls, especially those German kinds with hand knitted hats, scarf’s, mittens, ear muffs... you get my drift), and swapping my collection of leggings for new pairs of fitted jeans (I loved strutting round this summer in leggings and tiny tops, but somehow feel it wont go down too well now its, um, more drafty!)
